Resistance
A price level where selling pressure has historically been strong enough to slow further advances.
In plain words
The counterpart to support — a kind of "ceiling" where the price has repeatedly been held back.
In more detail
Broken resistance often turns into new support ("role reversal"). Resistance zones are also frequently derived from Fibonacci levels, prior highs, or psychologically round numbers.
Example
A stock repeatedly fails to break above $150 — this level is considered resistance.
What it means for traders
A central concept for assessing possible price targets and reversal points.
Common pitfalls
Like support, no guarantee — just a statistical tendency based on past behavior.
