NFT
A unique, non-interchangeable digital asset whose ownership is verified on a blockchain.
In plain words
Unlike a bitcoin (every bitcoin is worth exactly as much as any other), each NFT is unique — like a digital collectible.
Example
A piece of digital art is sold as an NFT, with the blockchain confirming proof of ownership for that exact one version.
What it means for traders
The best-known application of blockchain technology outside pure currencies, with uses spanning art to ticketing.
Common pitfalls
The market was at times highly speculative and volatile — many projects lost nearly all their value after the initial hype faded.
