Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA)
A stock index tracking the price performance of 30 large US industrial companies.
In plain words
One of the oldest and most famous stock indices in the world, but methodologically unusual (price-weighted rather than market-cap-weighted).
What it means for traders
A historically significant, heavily covered index, despite its methodological limitations.
Common pitfalls
Price weighting means expensive stocks have outsized influence on the index, regardless of company size.
